-- REST DAY --
With only 10 days until the CF Open kicks off, I want to take the opportunity to shed a little light on what exactly it is. Here goes:
There are 3 "Stages" that make up the CF Games.
Stage 1 - The Open: The entire planet will be competing, devided up into 17 regions. These workouts are generally designed to make this very inclusive. The cost is 20 dollars and consists of five weeks of competition, one workout per week. The workouts are posted online and you have one week to complete it. We will most likely be driving over to CrossFit Tacoma on Saturdays to complete these workouts. They will be starting at 11am, last year this was a blast, bonding with local CrossFitters is always a hoot! I encourage everyone who has time to join us, you don't have to be a Games Athlete, this one is just for fun! If you would like to compete in The Open, please let Mike or Adam know.
Stage 2 - Regionals: The top 60 athletes at the end of the Open move on to regionals. Our region consist of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. This is grueling test, 6 workouts over 3 days to find the top 3 men and women who will move on to The Games. The last 2 years this was held at the Puyallup fair grounds and was an amazing few days. We will be setting up camp on May 25th to cheer on these athletes. First place at each regional gets 3000$ and will be heading to California.
Stage 3 - CrossFit Games: This is the it, the premier test of broad fitness on the planet. Thousands of CrossFitters gather at The Home Depot Center in Carson California from July 13-15 to watch the action. The top 51 men and women from all 17 regionals compete for the 250,000$ first place prize. Below is a little recap from the past few years.
