Today marks the 14th anniversary of September 11, 2001. On this day, 2,977 lives were lost and countless others were forever changed. This tragedy launched the initiative against al-Qaeda and other terrorist networks who aim to destroy America, our allies, and our way of life. In answering the call to preserve our freedom, over 6,800 American military members have paid the ultimate sacrifice. All of these men and women leave behind families, friends, and brothers-in-arms who will forever feel the void their absence brings.
In moving forward with the Global War Against Terror, it is our duty as Americans to stand alongside these brave men and women who sacrifice moments with their families daily, risk their lives, and give up the comforts of home so we can live in peace and freedom.
